Producing Tactile Graphics
The production methods most commonly used in school settings, by braille transcribers and tactile graphics specialists are highlighted in this section:
- collage
- foil
- microcapsule paper and fuser
- computer assisted tactiles (computer designed and embossed)
In addition to these common production methods, students will encounter tactile graphics in their textbooks and ancillary materials that have been produced by commercial processes such as:
- press braille (APH)
- ink and resin deposit methods (Braille Jymico, Tactile Vision, APH, ghBraille)
- CAD/silkscreen (Touch Graphics)
It is important that students have the opportunity to experience graphics in all production methods. Many commercial braille agencies also produce standardized tests, using their unique production methods.
